Angela's Portrait of the Month-May 2011
The magic of Disney means so many different things for each of us, but for this little guy’s family it means so much more. Last year on a Spring break family trip to Florida while in The Magic Kingdom, his parents Tiffany and Dave received a surprise phone call. It had only been a few months since they had completed all the paperwork (and other stuff) needed to be approved as adoptive parents. As you can guess, it was the phone call all adoptive parents wait for. There was a birth mother who had just given birth that had selected them and they had a baby!
What wonderful news! To get that fantastic news while together as a family made it even better. They were all truly were the happiest people in the happiest place on earth. But then reality set in, they were in Florida and they needed to get home to Indiana ASAP to meet their new baby boy they would name Liam. It was time for the soon-to-be Grandmother to spring into action, only to find that there were no flights available soon enough. Grandma made a plan to rent a car and drive through the night with her Daughter and Son in law to get them home to meet their son. Off they went on a power road trip to meet Liam and for him to officially join his new loving family.
Over the years we have met many adoptive parents and their children. We have seen firsthand that amazing bond between parent and child that is truly a gift from God. Liam’s Mother told us that “he was meant to be with us all along.” This darling little boy is considered an “extra blessing” to the entire family say’s his grandmother. Angela often says “how amazing it is that one baby can bring so much joy to so many people.”
They day we photographed Liam (we photographed many different poses with the entire extended family) it was very obvious how this little miracle has affected so many lives. There were so many hugs, kisses and laughter and it was contagious. Grandma, grandpa, uncles and aunt have all been changed forever by this little slugger. He is our little “miracle” they all said. It is totally amazing how his personality fits in with everyone. There is no doubt when you spend time with them that Liam was born to be in their family!
We have said it before that we have the best job in the world! We really do. It is a pleasure and an honor to be in the presence of wonderful people celebrating life. We are very lucky and blessed to have been chosen to capture this memory of Liam for his first birthday and with the family he was meant to be with. They have given him a life-long gift of their love and the portraits that we created for him to relive those memories.
This panel of images of him as the “Little Slugger” is going to be displayed in his bedroom. Don’t forget that 2011 is the “Year of the Family”.
